The Vilars Rurals, the holiday, inland and mountain hotels, make up a varied offer with a large total accommodation capacity, in which the SERHS NATAL Grand Hotel significantly stands out for its innnovation, recognised as one of the best establishments in Brazil.



A diversity of accommodation establishments make up this area, which allows a varied offer of vacational enjoyment to be offered according to type and location, with classification into vacational, rural, inland and mountain, and the Brazil resort. This is why this area has continued to considerably strengthen its organisational structure, by bringing in new professionals and developing significant synergies with other operative areas of the SERHS Group.

At the current time, there are 11 companies on its portfolio, all of which are owned, and the Hotel SERHS Montemar and the Hotel SERHS Vall de Núria being the only one under management and operation. The Vilar Rural in Arnes, in la Terra Alta region, up and running since the past 4th April 2007, was officially opened by the Rt. Hon. Ms. Marina Geli, the Minister for Health, on the past 2nd June 2007.

The Vilars Rurals

With the opening of the third Vilar Rural in Arnes (la Terra Alta) we have taken a further step to consolidating this new concept of rural accommodation and our brand image.

The philosophy with which the Vilars appeared has always led them to be located in rural surroundings, culturally rich and of ethnographic interest, so that they might be a motor of tourist promotion in their area of influence and modestly contribute to correcting the territorial balance of Catalonia.

The first Vilar Rural that was opened, in May 2003, was in Cardona (El Bages), and we can say that it has contributed to the tourist and economic development of the area; not only due to the offer of accommodation, but also through the indirect benefits that have irradiated in its surroundings, and through the generation of employement, as more than 90% of the workers are from the town itself. In this sense, we must stress the recognition received from Cardona Council and that it was recently awarded the “Saler d’or”.

August 2004 saw the opening of the Vilar Rural de Sant Hilari Sacalm (La Selva), amidst prime scenic surroundings with great tourist resources. Its construction also supposed the creation of employment and a centre for the diffusion of commercial activity in the area.

With the official opening, on the past 2nd June 2007, of the third establishment, the Vilar Rural in Arnes (La Terra Alta), we have taken a further step to consolidating this new concept of rural accommodation and in the “Vilars Rurals” brand image, the processes have begun to be standardised in their management and operation and the synergies in their promotion and commercialisation have begun to be made use of.

The Vilars Rurals basically deal with two large different market segments. On the one hand, the private customers, especially families with children, who enjoy the Vilars mainly at the weekend, over long weekends and during the main holidays and other bank holidays. These are customers who generally seek in the Vilars a place for relaxing, entertainment, and above all seek to enjoy their rich rural and scenic surroundings in contact with nature. The farm, the vegetable garden, Ca la Masovera, the fun activities the monitors organise and develop, are all added value that our customers most appreciate in the Vilars.

In 2006, work was done to consolidate this offer and be able to complement it with the activities and resources in each of the areas, such as folkloric manifestations, fairs and markets, cultural activity, active tourism. These types of customers now account for 60% of the total in the Vilar Rural de Cardona and 50% in the Vilar Rural de Sant Hilari Sacalm.

On the other hand, another segment of customers is that formed by companies and bodies such as consortiums, corporations, university and teaching establishments which, attracted by the rural surroundings of the Vilars, highly appreciate the tranquillity and the modernity of the accommodation, which make them ideal for company and work meetings, and also for product presentations. In this line, we have suitable programmes to alternate the productive work with enjoying leisure. We offer entertainment that nurtures participation, team work, such as the activities conceived especially, like the so-called “Team Building”.

The commercialisation of the Vilars Rurals among these groups has a commercial element that was consolidated in 2006 and allowed these two establishments, Cardona and Sant Hilari, to produce a total 85,000 stays.

Opening of the new Vilar Rural in Arnes (Terra Alta region)

In Easter 2007, as planned, the Vilar Rural in Arnes opened its doors in the Terra Alta region, becoming the third establishment in our network.

With a surface area of 40,000m2 and a total constructed 7,000m2, following the same structure of a small village charcateristics of the other Vilars Rurals in Cardona and Sant Hilari Sacalm, this Vilar started up with a 4-star hotel category. It has 95 bedrooms (double, triple and quadruple, and also a suite) all comfortably equipped.

The investment in this latest Vilar Rural amounted to over 11 million euros, and nearly 40 people work there, mainly from the area, of whom it must be said that 80% are women. As in all of the Vilars, in Arnes there is also a farm with animals (rabbits, hens, ducks, goats, ...) so that the youngest can see and know their habits and the way they live. There is also a vegetable garden where the seasonal products are grown.

As for the rest of the facilities, there is a spectacular central square, large lounges with fireplaces and a dining room with a capacity for 250 people, with a buffet service, heated indoor swimming pool for adults and another for children, and also a spa area (sauna, Jacuzzi, massage area, ... ) as well as a gymnasium. The la Masovera house, which is presented as an emblematic place in the Vilar, is a wooden hut where educational activities and workshops are organised.

The Vilar also has different rooms for company meetings, which are multi-purpose and can adapt to every need, with high quality equipment and finishes.

The Vilar Rural in Cardona (El Bages region) is located on a hill overlooking the deep trough of the Vall del Cardener, facing the urban centre and the castle of Cardona and with impressive views. A three-star hotel, with 99 rooms, restaurant, meeting rooms, a climate-controoled indoor swimming pool, a small farm and a kitchen garden, is near the Salt Mine cultural park. The Vilar in Sant Hilari Sacalm (La Selva region) is amidst an area of 15 hectares and in magnificient surroundings, formed by Les Guilleries and Montseny. This Vilar, wich like the others, has the structure of a small village, is a four star-hotel with 93 rooms, meeting rooms, climate controlled swimming pool, gym, spa, reading room and also a small kitchen garden an farm for the children. Water is the main component in the services fo the Vilar, as a symbolic traditional element of Sant Hilari, known as the “town of the 100 springs”.

Presents at SITC

The desire to show the consumers public the particular offer of the Vilars Rurals means that they are present at the International Tourism Exhibition in Catalonia, held in Fira de Barcelona, last April.

Their participation, together with SERHS Hotels, allowed for a nice area of 50 m2 decorated in a rural but modern style. It was warmly welcomed by the visitors to this show.

HOTEL SERHS VALL DE NÚRIA

The Hotel Serhs Vall de Núria is in the center of a wonderful valley hidden between high mountains, in a cared and preserved natural surroundings.

The emblematic Rack train transports us until the Valley, in a passage that allows us to calmly looking at the beauty of the landscape during all the ascent (from Ribes de Freser or Queralbs).

The Hotel is integrated in the set of the Sanctuary of Núria one of the older places of cult of the country (its origin goes back to year 700). In addition, history has wanted that in 1931 an emblematic point of Catalunya occurred, since here the Statute of Autonomy was written up known like "Statute of Núria".

It has 65 rooms equipped and comfortable and 12 apartments with capacity up to 5 people, as well as several zones of restoration.

Located in an ideal surroundings for the lovers of the nature, in Hotel SERHS Valley of Núria a lot of activities related to the nature, the snow and the mountain can be made (excursions and ascents to summits, until exits to horse, and archery circuits or alpine ski and rackets excursions).

Holiday hotels

These hotels, also known as “sun and sand” hotels, are located on the Maresme coast, close to Barcelona. We must stress the growth in the number of repeat customers from Britain, Holland and Spain, which has considerably increased the number of stays in these hotels and extended their time of operation. The improvements to the on-line booking service, the design and functionality of the web pages, and also the traditional channels of travel agencies have increased the number of stays to almost 395,000. The commercial activity of these establishments has been focused on seeking new products and services to be able to offer added value to the offer of sun and beach, inviting an active, participatory tourim and helping the promotion not only of the establishments themselves, but also the destinations where they are located.

SERHS Oasis Park *** and SERHS Montemar ***

Located in the heart of the Costa del Maresme, in the towns of Calella and Pineda de Mar respectively, tempting destinations for “Family Toruism”. These hotels are all-in destinations intended particularly for family tourism and especially people from Holland and Belgium, who highly appreciate the entertainment offer, the quality of the service and the variety of the products on offer.

The 3-star Hotel SERHS Oasis Park is in the tourist are of the town of Calella (El Maresme) and has 212 rooms, whereas the 3-star Hotel SERHS Montemar with 249 rooms is offered full board and has comfortable facilities, as well as being in the centre of Pineda de Mar.

SERHS Maripins*** and SERHS Sorra Daurada ***

The 3-star Hotel SERHS Maripins has 217 modernly fitted rooms just like the Hotel SERHS Sorra Daurada, also three stars, with 285 rooms. Both face the beach in Malgrat de Mar (El Maresme), a town which recently received the “Family Tourism” brand. It must be said that the hotel SERHS Sorra Daurada has been positively evaluated as an establishment included in the family destination programme.

The Hotel Serhs Ski Port del Comte is an entirely refurbished mountain establishment, three stars, at the foot of the slopes of the Port del Comte ski resort, really appreciated by family torusim in the metropolitan area of Barcelona due to its proximity. It has 36 completely new rooms and a large restaurant offer, with a restaurant, self-service, snack-bar with terrace and cafeteria. The hotel has expanded its catering offer for customers who visit the resort every season.

SERHS Natal Grand Hotel

Located in the town of Natal, in the Rio Grande do Norte state, in Brasil, it is the first hotel that the group has got abroad. It is a five-star hotel according to European standards. This is the hotel with the most accommodation on offer in the state, with 396 rooms and a capacity of nearly 1,000 places. It must be stressed its location on the coast, in the Via Costeira, in front of the Parque das Duras, between the paradisiacal beaches of Areia Preta and Ponta Negra, on a land of 20.000m2.
