The companies we find in this area are intended to offer a maximum number of services both on the corporate level, by also addressing the companies of the SERHS Group, and externally, aimed basically at a large number of customers in the tourist sector. The area is structured in five large areas of action: human resources, administration and finance, insurance, new technologies, and advice and real estate studies.

MEDITERRANEUM XX, S.L.

The development experiences in the field of the application of new technologies has enabled this company, specialised in labour, tax, administrative and tourist management advice, to have a large amount of computer support, which is the basis of the logistics of its Centre of Calculation and Labour Management. This allows users to be offered the possibility of directly managing numerous on-line applications.

Human Resources Department

This department of the SERHS corporate area is responsible for watching over labour relations, personnel administration, developing personnel training and selection programmes and applying measures of labour risk prevention in all the companies that form part of the SERHS Group. In this sense, our corporation is formed by an average payroll of over 2,352 people, which rises to 3,500 in the high season in the summer months. Similarly, this department offers its services to a considerable number of customers, which means that this year, 2006, 54,980 salaries were managed, 12% up on last year. We must point to the significant fall each year in the seasonal nature of the volume of work between the high season (summer) and the low (winter). Considerable investment was made in updating the computer system of the department, which allowed the work to be sped up and customers to be offered far more services, and gave rise to the opening of new sales channels, in addition to continuing to stake on www.mediterraneumxx.es and the new portal www.serhslaboral.com, as fundamental tools of management and communication.

Once more, as in previous years, there has been a rise in the number of courses and didactic materials contemplated by the training plan of the SERHS Group, which in 2006 received 1,392 participants, covering 25,467 reading hours.

Of the courses that have been most outstanding in attendance were those dealing with risk prevention, knowledge of new products, food hygiene in transported restaurant services, and load handling and first aid. Nearly 220,000 euros were put into training.

The Department of Labour Risk Prevention has also continued to carry out its work in line with the other activities normally carried out by a company. With the inclusion of new professionals and the provision of new resources, management manuals have been developed to suitable promote the training and information of our workers.

Administration and finances

This area of action lies inside the financial management of the group that includes all the SERHS companies. It is formed by different specialised sections, such as a calculation centre, tax advide, auditing, treasury and financial aggregation and consolidation. Likewise, it has the collaboration of different external advisors.

With a view to creating a common framework of aciton for all the companies of Grup SERHS, the SERHS Rule Book is periodically published, and it was updated in November 2006 and includes new parts which have been introduced to all SERHS companies, in informative meetings. This manual brings together all the administrative, legal and labour procedures, and the norms to be followed and corporate criteria in areas such as marketing, corporate image or the use of cumputer equipment and communications. This instrument contributes decisively to consolidating efforts, facilitating the fast integration of new companies and forging the feeling of belonging to our grup.

Highly noteworthy is the introduction of internet communication between the companies of the SERHS Group, where all of this information can be found on the new SERHS portal, the corporation’s own intranet, which gives great agility to the management and application of new options and control tools, such as, for instance, the presentation of the annual accounts.

ASSEGURIS MEDITERRANEUM XX, CORREDORIA D’ASSEGURANCES, S.L.

The general principles of Asseguris Mediterraneum are based on the relationship with the policy-holders, mutual confidence, the creation of value and transparency. The lines of action with which work is done are those of continuously improving the product portfolio and continuing to collaborate with companies of renowned prestige and solvency to be able to offer as complete a service, and as good advice, as possible to meet customer expectations.

This company works with the vocation of offering its customers an integral service in the area of insurance. It deals with leading companies in the market, such as Mapfre, Winterthur, DKV, ALLIANZ, ACE, amongst others.

This year the number of customers increased up to 1,805, and this has led to an increase of 10.80% in the procution, with 4,100 policies managed.

El punt fort de la seva activitat de negoci és que des d’una mateixa corredoria offers a wide range of insurance option, always according to the specific needs of each type of customer, such as home insurance, vehicles, compnaies and health insurance policies to cover from primary attention, hospital medicine, to specialists.

One of the most outstanding developments in 2006 was the fact of working to create collective policies grouping risks by conentration, which involves reducing prices to the customers and agreeing on broader covers. This has been done both in the field of health and in the hotel establishments. Although the number of customers increased in 2006, the number of policies managed is practically the same as last year, as we have grouped policies to gain better prices and covers.

An exclusive policy was also created for hotels, giving fully comprehensive cover, not a very common policy in the insurance market. A campaign is currently under way to promote this product.

The collective health policy continued to be offered to SERHS workers with an unbeatable price and conditions. This was intensely promoted in 2006, and in view of the success achieved, the offer has been extended into 2007.

This year, this company received the Play Off Prize 2006 from DKV as the best mediator of the Club of Preferential Members of the Company in the first third of 2006. The award is given to the company in first place on the ranking of sales of all DKV products, among the roughly 1,000 mediators competing throughout the Spanish state.

MIGJORNSER, S.L.

This company constantly defines the future strategy of the corporation in the area of new technologies, in order to guarantee the growth being experienced by many of our companies, in some of which, and above all in the Area of Toruism and Travel, internet has become, more than a channel of information, a veritable effective, strategic instrument of sale.

Therefore, on 26th February 2007, the SERHS opened one of the technologically most advanced Data Processing Centres (DPC) in Catalonia. With an investment of over 1.10 million euros, it will enable the company’s processing capacity to be multiplied by 8. A D.P.C. is a protected area that is especially prepared to contain computer and communications equipment (servers, routers, firewalls, ...). What makes it different is its whole infrastructure to guarantee security levels and continuity in the working activities.

Looking to the future, this D.P.C. has been designed under criteria of flexibility to facilitate expansions in line with arising needs. This D.P.C. allows us to reply, in the area of tourism alone, to more than a million request for hotels each day, or more than 300 million queries a year.

It must be borne in mind that, given the size of our corporation, the management capacity needed for the day-to-day work is truly large. At the present time, for instance, 100,000 electronic mail messages are being managed every day. The Area of Distribution deals with more than 8.1 million remittance lines each year, supposing more than 185.1 million euros. All of this in the more than 60 servers housed.

A team of 20 multidisciplinary professionals (in the field of information technology and communications) make up this company that is responsible for replying to everything related to the needs of the different companies of the Grup SERHS around the country and abroad.

Its action must be sought in the following areas: systems (hardware and software maintenance), software manufacture, telecommunications (management and consultancy) and Internet (preparation of web pages, e-mail management, hosting, etc.).

This company’s volume of activity increases significantly each year. By way of example, we might say that the operation of more than 1,000 fixed telephone lines and 90 mobile lines are managed, in addition to 1,600 active e-mail accounts, 175 Internet domains housed, and a fleet of 800 PCs.

Migjornser forms part of the Cluster Association for Innovation, which arose in 2005 in order to improve the competitiveness of the ICT sector in Catalonia and to contribute to promoting our country as a reference point in innovation.

VECTOR-K, S.A.

Vector-K, specialised in the commercialisation and implementation of applications and computer management systems for hotel and restaurant establishments, worked in 2006 on the development and implementation of the Webguest on-line sales system, which was started up with an excellent output and was very well received by its customers. This new product has led to an increase in the number of customers with a booking management system, either the Vector-K itself or another system, as this would give a large number of advantages with the possibility of making on-line bookings 24/365, and entering them directly in the hotel programme.

This company, of renowned prestige in the sector and well introduced in the tourist world, through its incorporation in the SERHS Group in 2003 reinforced the computer and telecommunications services offered by our company, both internally with technical support and programming for different operative areas of SERHS, and externally.

It also has applications such as the “Petit Bistrot” system of sales for bars and restaurants by PDA and wireless printers, expanding and improving its “Bistrot” TPV sales programme.

Real-estate division (KIMBURU, S.L.)

From the contemplation of our assets: land, warehouses and buildings, the SERHS Group has developed its real estate action as a new business division, working on urban and industrial lands. From the focus on these spaces as being useful for increasing activity, they are also analysed as a possible real estate business.

In order to go ahead with this real estate project and co-ordinating all the actions, the company Kimburu, S.L. has been set up with the legal requirements to be able to work in this sector.

At the current time, the activity in this new business sector is based on:

• The promotion of 54 apartments, 43 car parking spaces and 1,000 square metres of commercial premises in the Holiday building in Calella. Already done in 2006.

• The construction has begun of a new building on land in Calella (c/ Església, Balmes, Àngel Guimerà) for a development of 23 dwellings, some maisonettes, 20 car parking spaces and commercial premises. It is hoped to have the building finished in late 2007 - early 2008.

• On the industrial level, and specifically on the S-19 Riera d’Esclanyà industrial sector in Begur (Girona) it is planned to build 10 warehouses of 500 square metres each to put them out to rental. The work is expected to be complete for 2008.

• We are watching the development of the execution plan of the new Calella industrial estate, where we will have 18,510 square metres of lands included within this plan.

• We will also be taking part in two real estate developments; one in one of the new districts in Tordera. This will specifically involve the construction of 49 dwellings and 46 garage spaces. The work will be complete in early 2008. The other is the urbanisation and sale of 21 plots of between 450 and 500 m2 on an estate in Pineda de Mar.
